You know that Hunter Douglas makes top notch custom window treatments for basically any window or door. You know that the quality of their product is outstanding and you probably heard that it is guaranteed for life. But what you probably don’t know is the level of detail and the degree of creativity that goes into creating Hunter Douglas window fashions. We will take a look at a few such things and will start with fabrics.
It is no news that many window treatments are made of fabric. Fabric is the traditional material for window coverings and nearly all manufacturers offer fabric window shades. However, Hunter Douglas recognizes textiles as the essence of window fashions and directs their special attention to this area.
The result is the greatest selection of fabrics among the competition with a host of qualities that satisfy every need. One of the ways this was achieved was the constant research and design efforts to create not only new patterns but also new materials.
Hunter Douglas is a pioneer of several widely used materials (like, the one that resists the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria) and continues developing innovative textiles. The goal is to create fabrics with unique properties, such as unique light filtering, amazing light reflection, exhilarating new perception, superior performance, etc. Let’s look at a few examples.
Mica Fabrics. Hunter Douglas has several lines of beautifully shimmering materials. One line is Opalessence fabric used in Duette, Duette Architella and Alustra Duette Architella honeycomb shades. Here, a special process is used to dust a base material with particles of Mica mineral producing a shimmering and heat resistant coating.
Metallic Fabrics. A subtle sheen and an interesting light reflecting effect of a Mist line is achieved by an innovative metallic finish. Mist fabrics are available for Alustra Silhouette shadings.
Pearlescent Fabrics. The Satin Metallic fabric line used in Pirouette shadings demonstrates the slight elegant shine of the soft pearlescent coating perfected by Hunter Douglas.
Advanced Fabrics. Even though several manufacturers now produce antimicrobial window treatments, Hunter Douglas is still the leader with their proprietary Venue fabric for Applause honeycomb shades. Venue is developed with MicroShield which resists the growth of mold, mildew and bacteria.
Woven Fabrics. By working closely with fabric artists and designers from around the world, Hunter Douglas creates textiles that complement their products providing durability and great style. A large number of company’s products offer woven fabric selections. But where the wovens especially shine is Modern Roman Shades.
Textured Weave Fabrics. Hunter Douglas creates “some of the most perfectly textures weaves” that look amazing with both traditional and modern window treatments. The examples are the Batiste fabric line in Duette Architella honeycomb shades, Linen fabric in Pirouette shadings, Alexa fabric in Solera Soft Shades, and the Nouveau fabric in Silhouette shadings.
As you can see, textiles are a great focus for Hunter Douglas. However, looks and style are not all what company is concentrating on. When a beautiful material is created, it undergoes rigorous testing to determine its practical qualities and the ability to support the lifetime guarantee supplied with each Hunter Douglas product. Only the fabrics that excel in both aspects are offered to you, the customer, for consideration for your window treatment projects.
